Screw the river...we're headed to Vail!

Unfortunately, spring has been extrememly tardy in showing up in Durango. After we received our San Juan River permit, the weather seemed to know we wanted to get out on the river and someone invited Old Man Winter back to town. In fact, on Wednesday of last week, Durango had a Flash Flood watch and Winter Storm Advisory in the same day. On Thursday, we were in a high-wind advisory and had gusts of 75 mph. The weather didn't look much better over in Bluff, UT, so we decided to not spend Emma's first multi-day river trip in adverse weather. Good decision because it ended up snowing almost all weekend.

Aaron then got booked for a trip on Friday. Then Emma and I decided to head up to Vail, CO to visit our dear friend Angie. We weren't really too concerned that she got a foot and a half of snow at her house on Thursday, as we just wanted to get out of town for a little bit. Emma and I left after my OB appointment on Friday and got to Vail on Friday night. Angie's house is really the only place where I know my child will be offered more candy and soda (because Angie is an addict yet incredibly fit) and I will allow.

Anyways, since we didn't really have an agenda while in town, we spent Saturday morning at the park (Emma was in her snow suit) and walking around the pond. Then we decided to head over to Eagle, CO to a paint your own pottery shop. Emma absolutely loved it and she was able to make her Father's Day gifts a little bit early. However, we had to discuss the idea of a "secret" and so far.....Emma has been able to keep her little secret. Otherwise, we spent the rest of our time in Vail hanging out with Angie and her dog, Roxy. We had a great time and I loved being able to catch up with Angie. Because so many of our friends are spread across the country, we often see them at a certain event and it was nice just to do whatever we wanted. However, I'm sure Angie is glad to have her quiet back in the mornings!
