Thomas the Train

Compliments of Thomas the Train conductor Dan Stangby, we have been able to ride Thomas for 3 years in a row.  I don't know much about Thomas...but Emma seems to think it is REALLY COOL.  So they play Thomas the Train songs and thankfully, the ride only goes to 32nd St and back.  Thanks Dan!

Getting out on the boat

Aaron has been busy this summer. This may be an understatement. But this is a good thing and we know it happens every summer season.  However, the girls and I don't get many chances to see him from May - September and Hannah had yet to be out on the river.  So sometime in mid-June (I've lost track, sorry!) we drove down to the river and met Aaron after one of his trips to get out on the river.

We were able to float for a couple of hours and even land a fish.  I love that Emma LOVES to be on the boat...especially with her dad.  It was Hannah's first experience and she did okay - but she didn't really appreciate her life jacket and let us know that!  We knew we would be on our friends' raft the next weekend, so we wanted to see how she would do on the boat.  She remained relatively happy as long as I was feeding her food.  Who isn't happier when they are eating?

Telluride Bluegrass

We love going to bluegrass festivals and I wish we were able to go to more.  Every year, the Telluride Bluegrass festival takes place over the summer solstice weekend.  So we headed over for the Thursday line-up with our friend Sarah.  Aaron spent his day making fly fishing dreams come true on the San Juan - Sarah and I spent the day with the girls shaking it.  The day featured a great line-up  including the closing act (for us) Sarah Maclachan.

This was Hannah's first Telluride festival and Emma is already a pro with 3 under her belt. Both girls were great and the only meltdown of the day occured when we realized we didn't have the hula hoop. But we averted major meltdown status when we realized we could make a hula hoop in the kid's tent!

Happy Anniversary #6

Yes, this post is now almost 2 months behind...but at least I am trying to catch up.  On May 27th, Aaron and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary.  We had the luxury of leaving the girls in Durango with Granny Beth while we escaped for a 2 day vacation.  Aaron planned the trip and it was quite the treat! We were able to spend one night in Ridgeway, CO (there is a mexican restaurant there that has the BEST mexican food I think I have ever eaten) and then we drove over to Telluride and spent a day and a night there.  It was relaxing.  It was kid-free.  It was deserved.

A friend once told me that if you want your marriage to work, you have to work at your marriage....As Aaron and I continue to add up the years of our marriage, we remind ourselves this sometimes...and we realize that it is something that is most important at continuing to work it.  So to here's to many more years and thanks for picking me, Aaron!
